Description

This five-year funding opportunity (five year project period, one year budget period) offers support to tribal entities to increase public health capacity and infrastructure for chronic disease prevention, health promotion, and prevention and control of priority public health problems, by strengthening core public health functions of American Indian and Alaska Native tribes, tribal organizations (including tribal epidemiology centers), urban Indian organizations and intertribal consortiums, representing or serving at least 60,000 American Indians and Alaska Natives. Awardees will provide public health leadership, surveillance and epidemiology, public health program design, implementation and evaluation, technical support and training to address a wide range of public health needs and accelerate improvements in health outcomes for American Indian and Alaska Native populations across an Area. This project will fund approximately thirteen (13) applicants, including a network coordinating center, to strengthen public health capacity and infrastructure and provide a culturally informed, holistic approach to disease prevention and promotion of population health and wellness.
