BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The Recipient is a member of the Great Plains Cooperative Ecosystem Study Unit who was awarded a Master Cooperative Agreement P16AC00011 allowing the Conservation and Survey Division, School of Natural Resources, University of Nebraska-Lincoln to participate in specific tasks, and can provide the necessary activities involved in this particular task while providing an effective outcome for NPS and the objectives of this research/educational project. Task Agreement P16AC01250 original agreement was for $98,549.00 and a modification to add additional funding in the amount of $98,549.00 is required to fund the current project activities. STATEMENT OF WORK: The Conservation and Survey Division (CSD or Nebraska Geological Survey) Survey will deliver a surficial geologic map to Missouri National Recreation River (MNRR) as part of the National Park Service’s Geologic Resources Inventory (GRI), one of the twelve inventories identified and funded by the NPS Inventory and Monitoring Division. The project will produce detailed surficial geologic maps at the scale of 1:24,000 in the western or “39-mile” district of the MNRR corridor. Fourteen U. S. Geological Survey 7.5-minute quadrangles in this area are proposed for mapping, whether in full or in part. RECIPIENT AGREES TO: In addition to the map products described above, the CSD agrees to: (1) Meet with MNRR staff prior to any field activities to identify areas of significant natural or cultural resources within the park and develop a plan to avoid any adverse impact of these resources; (2) Meet with MNRR staff to update them on the progress of mapping and identify new or unique geologic resources found during the mapping process which can be utilized for park interpretive or educational purposes; (3) Update GRI Program manager on mapping progress. NATIONAL PARK SERVICE AGREES TO: The National Park Service will be responsible for the following: (1) Have the ATR work with the CSD staff to develop the goals for the project; (2) Have MNRR staff provide CSD staff with an orientation to significant park resources and any relevant safety training; (3) Provide the recipient with all relevant NPS MNRR GIS data sets and other associated data that may be important to geologic mapping and data interpretation. Such data sets may include, but not be limited to, park boundaries, park infrastructure/facilities, etc.; (4) Provide the recipient all relevant LIDAR imagery and aerial imagery that is in the possession of MNRR or the Northern Great Plains Network; (5) Provide natural resource management staff from the NPS-Geologic Resources Division-Denver and from the participating park units to collaborate with the recipient on project study design, to consult with the recipient on creation of the map legends/map categories, and to review all preliminary, interim, and final documents associated with the project; (6) When available, provide logistical support to facilitate the conduct of mapping activities in MNRR, such as, but not limited to, access to remote park areas, assistance with the NPS permitting process, and assistance with field data collection; (7) Provide, through the Geologic Resources Division, any assistance required by CDS staff to create the geologic maps in a Geographic Information System (GIS) using state-or-the-art ESRI ARCGIS software.
