Fish and Wildlife Service

Description

The US Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 7 intends to award a single source financial assistance agreement as authorized by 505 DM 2.14 (B) to Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC). This notice is not a request for proposals and the Government does not intend to accept proposals. The Upper Tanana Region of Alaska includes lands owned and managed by many landowners, including Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge, military lands and operating areas, state lands, and tribal allotments and conveyed lands. The area in an around Northway, Alaska, is in the Upper Tanana Region, and also has numerous current and historical contaminated sites. There is a need for land managers and for tribal entities and individuals who live there and who use public lands for subsistence purposes to have data on contaminated sites and studies associated with those in one accessible location. Because some of the data, such as names of individual allotment owners and subsistence hunting areas, are considered sensitive, any data consolidation effort must include security measures to assure that those accessing the data have a genuine need to do so. The Tanana Chiefs Council (a tribal entity) Forestry Department has the expertise to consolidate the multiple disparate information sources, provide security for sensitive information, and the server space to house data from multiple sources in a single location.
