The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite grant applications to support the maintenance and follow-up of existing epidemiology cohorts prospectively following at least 2,000 participants. Through this FOA, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) will support the conduct of a minimal content exam/data collection cycle, and ascertainment/adjudication of events of clinical significance. The primary goal of this FOA is to maintain and maximize investments in existing prospective cohorts by supporting the infrastructure needed to facilitate resource sharing with the broader scientific communities, and prepare for future innovative research opportunities. This FOA aims to establish the foundational framework for innovative research hypotheses to be funded through ancillary research.
