Second Century Regional Resource Stewardship Assessment
ArchivedNational Park Service
Description
This project will create a preliminary Second Century Regional Resource Stewardship Assessment, which is an integrated natural and cultural 11 of the NCR parks. This will serve the parks as they begin the next round of NRCAs and the park Resource Stewardship Strategies. The primary purpose of this study is not the acquisition of property or services for the direct benefit or use by the Federal Government, but rather to accomplish a public purpose of support or stimulation authorized the Legislative Authorities listed above. This project fulfills a Public Purpose of support or economic stimulation through: • Assisting in the promotion, facilitation, and improvement of people’s understanding of natural resources of National Parks. • Engaging people, partners, and/or visitors in resource stewardship. • Promoting greater public and private participation in resource improvement and/or protection programs and activities. This project will build resource stewardship ethics in its participants. • Sharing the information, products and/or services identified or developed by this project through a variety of strategies to increase public awareness, knowledge and support for stewardship of the nation’s resources. • Providing opportunities for the Cooperator undergraduate and graduate students to learn about the nation’s resources by spending time working on projects in National Parks. The NPS receives the indirect benefit of completing resource conservation and protection projects. • Motivating the Cooperator undergraduate and graduate students to become involved in the natural, cultural and /or historical resource protection of their communities and beyond.
