The projects funded under this proposed announcement seek applications from public and private nonprofit entities for up to ten grants for family planning research. The purpose of these family planning research grants is to collect and analyze data on issues of interest to the family planning field. These grants will fund projects concentrating on the following three focus areas:1. Meeting the family planning needs of women and men with opioid and other substance use disorders. The primary focus is to conduct research leading to increased linkage between family planning services and substance use screening and treatment for men and women of child-bearing age with opioid and other substance use disorders.2. Investigating reasons for and barriers to discontinuing reversible contraceptive methods. The primary focus is to conduct research leading to increased services related to discontinuing reversible contraceptive methods, such as removal of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), i.e., intrauterine devices/systems and implants. 3. Evaluating alternative options to improve the fertility process in individuals and couples trying to conceive through vaginal intercourse. The primary focus is to conduct research leading to the increased ability of couples to conceive through vaginal intercourse without the use of assisted reproductive technology (ART), intrauterine insemination, or ovarian hyperstimulation.Applicants may submit more than one application for this opportunity; however each application must only address one of the focus areas.
