Description

This is a sole source NOFO request for the AU- Africa CDC Initiative. This purpose of this NOFO is to strengthen and reinforce Africa's public health systems to prevent, detect and respond quickly and effectively to public health threats, using evidence based programs and interventions. The African continent has recorded several successes in assuring global health, including progress made on many objectives of the Millennium Development Goals, and combating the Ebola Epidemic. However, the Ebola outbreak revealed the need for stronger, coordinated public health systems and infrastructure in Africa, in order to efficiently detect, prevent and respond to public health threats. This NOFO will implement strategies to improve national public health systems and institutions in Africa by strengthening surveillance systems, laboratory networks, information systems, emergency response and preparedness, public health investigation capacities and health promotion activities on the continent through the African Union/Africa CDC.
