Description

Despite being preventable and curable, TB is the leading infectious disease killer worldwide. A fourth of the world's population (2 billion people) are infected with TB, while more than 10 million become ill with the disease each year. More than 4 million individuals who become ill with TB are never diagnosed or treated, allowing TB to continue to be transmitted. Many of the "missing 4 million" are among vulnerable or underserved populations that are hard to reach or have difficulty accessing public health services, such as children, people living with HIV (PLHIV), migrants, refugees, and miners. The goal of this NOFO is to work with the Stop TB Partnership towards ending the TB epidemic by driving down TB deaths, TB incidence, and quantifying and eliminating catastrophic costs, in line with the WHO's END TB Strategy adopted by the World Health Assembly in May 2014. Through this NOFO, the Stop TB Partnership will develop models to expand TB screening and diagnosis to find the "missing" TB cases, increase efforts to address the intersecting epidemics of TB and HIV in high burden countries and settings, develop a global strategic plan to guide global TB partners in the implementation of the WHO END TB Strategy, and bolster collaboration and coordination among TB partners in a multi sectorial manner.
