Libyan Airport Security Capacity Building
ClosedBureau of Counterterrorism
Description
CHALLENGE: Accelerate progress towards securing airports in Libya to international standards, while empowering the Libyans to create sustainable standard operating procedures and policies that will withstand changes in authority and vacillating political climates. The statement of interest and capability should keep in mind the need for preparing, responding, and recovering from critical incidents and empowering Libyan airport authorities to establish networks of communication and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that are uniform between airports and that promote effective coordination between Libyan interagency actors within each airport. Special attention should be paid to women's professional development and advancement within the airport authorities; women travelers in a predominately Muslim population must receive security screenings from female personnel.
