Description
Cooperative Agreement Number P15AC00031 was entered into by and between the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, (NPS), and The Student Conservation Association (SCA), for the purpose of building the next generation of conservation leaders and to inspire lifelong stewardship of our environment and communities by engaging young people in hands-on service to the land through service opportunities, outdoor skills and leadership training. Unless otherwise specified herein, the terms and conditions as stated in the Cooperative Agreement will apply to this Task Agreement. The principle purpose of this project is to support the Government’s objective to provide opportunities for youth to learn about the environment by spending time working on projects in the National Parks. The NPS receives the indirect benefit of completing conservation project. The project will expose the crew leaders and crewmember to various hands-on experience to include: replacing rotted boardwalk, clear, repair waterbars, culverts, stairways, and improve signage along the trial. The NPS will provide cultural/environmental programs to the crewmembers including park tour, educational programs, talk on the history of the park, and other similar programs. The repairs will provide visitor use of the trail system throughout the year and make a safer and more enjoyable tail system. This project includes repairing a 50-foot boardwalk section, repairing and cleaning 12 culverts, repairing rock stairways and rock cairns along the trail and brushing and removing encroaching vegetation from a 6-mile section of the Kab-Ash Trail System.
