Bedlaod Transport, Lower Chippewa River
ArchivedGeological Survey
Description
The proposed research involves measurement and analysis of bedform transport rates and bedform migration processes within the Chippewa River, WI and how those processes affect sedimentation in the Mississippi River. The overall goal of this project is to inform sediment management actions within the Mississippi River by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). The Chippewa River is a primary supplier of sediment to the Mississippi River, and sediment delivery from the Chippewa often necessitates costly dredging operations of shipping channels within the Mississippi River.
