Description

A new partnership between Texas A&M University and the National Park Service-Intermountain Region will be established for hosting the ProRanger Program within the Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Sciences at Texas A&M University. ProRanger will be a collaborative effort of the National Park Service (NPS) and Texas A&M University (TAMU) to teach university students about visitor and resource protection within the NPS. Students will learn through classroom experience and will have opportunities to acquire field experience and hone skills through seasonal work in National Parks. This program will prepare participating students for careers in NPS law enforcement (LE). The program will create a diverse pool of potential federal employees. The increased diversity in the NPS workforce will enhance the visitorsâ¿¿ experience in their National Parks by having personnel that better resemble the demographics of our Nation. TAMU will benefit from hosting a new professional/academic program and by recruitment of diverse students to attend the institution which will result in a better classroom experience for all students. The contribution of these students in our National Parks will help in sustaining public resources for current and future generations. University students
