Description

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai (PAS Mumbai) seeks proposals for a project entitled “Promoting Diversity and Tolerance through Interfaith and Interclass Community Service Projects.” Under this project, a grantee will identify youth aged 12-25 from different cultural, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds as program participants in the city of Nashik (Maharashtra). Local schools, places of worship, or social organizations could act as partners to provide a pool of youth participants. The grantee will also identify up to 10 small to medium-scale local challenges that groups of volunteers could help address over the course of six months to the benefit of the entire community. Projects could include activities such as river banks or park clean ups, mural paintings on street walls, mosques and temples repairs, historical site repair/restoration, or educational or sports interactions with underserved area children. Depending on the activity, the number of participants would vary but range from approximately 25 to 75. In total, approximately 500 youth would participate in 10 sets of activities. PAS Mumbai would also recruit area volunteers to assist the grantee through its network of alumni of U.S. government exchange programs.
