Description

The goal of this program is to give imprisoned Afghan women and female juvenile inmates the education and skills necessary to reintegrate after release; education and day care for the children of imprisoned women; employ social workers to serve as mediators between women and girls nearing release and their families; employ lawyers to assist inmates and detainees with defense trials, appeals and earning early release; distribute necessary medical and hygiene supplies as needed; and follow up with released inmates to monitor their status. These programs will improve the conditions of women and girls while in prison but will, more importantly, allow women and girls to be safe and self-sufficient upon release.
