Description

The objective of this Agreement is to provide more than 1,500 students and their teachers the opportunity to live and learn in a national park for three days during the school week each fall and spring.This is a robust youth engagement program, designed and delivered in partnership with Prince Williams Forest Park, which overcomes the capacity and delivery constraints of the NPS. Nature Bridge will: 1. Deliver overnight, multi-day, curriculum-based environmental science education programs in Prince William Forest Park for students in grades 4 – 12, with an instructor ratio of approximately 1 instructor per 15 students. These programs will include: Recruit, select, hire, train, and manage environmental educators who are knowledgeable in education and interpretation techniques. Educators will be Wilderness First Responders or First aid certified. Program content will include the study of the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed found in the Mid-Atlantic region including geology, plant, creek, forest, and animal ecology. Students participating in overnight programs will receive program-related equipment from NatureBridge when necessary and/or appropriate. Programs may include pre- and post-trip classroom visits to students participating in NatureBridge programs.
