National Park Service

Description

THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS.This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service’s intention to award a task agreement under a previously competed or single source justified master cooperative agreement. Cooperative Agreement Number P15AC00031 was entered into by and between the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, (NPS), and The Student Conservation Association, Inc. for the purpose of building the next generation of conservation leaders and to inspire lifelong stewardship of our environment and communities by engaging young people in hands-on service to the land through service opportunities, outdoor skills, and leadership training. This project provide meaningful and skill building paid internships for local youth that would otherwise not typically visit a national park while simultaneously accomplishing critical work projects in the park, including trail maintenance, resource protection, and habitat improvements. Specifically, the team will treat invasive species and increase the number of acres treated for invasive species (plants and one species of non-native crayfish) by more than tripling the efforts of park staff alone. They will repair and install protective fencing around designated riparian buffer vegetation areas. Additionally this team will work to maintain two popular visitor trails by clearing brush and debris, again multiplying efforts of park staff and accomplishing more than would be done with staff alone.
