Description

The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research in the development of a surveillance plan for White-nose syndrome (WNS), and specifically to develop a tool that can be used by managers to guide and optimize surveillance activities. WNS is a devastating fungal disease that has caused severe declines in cave-hibernating bat species in the Eastern United States. The fungal pathogen that causes white-nose syndrome has continued its spread westward into the central plains. USGS NWHC has been tasked with developing a surveillance plan for white-nose syndrome in the western United States.
