This is NOT a request for applications. This is just a public notice that an agreement has been put into place between the NPS and the OAH.1) The Organization of American Historians agrees to:a. Produce a Historic Resource Study for Saratoga National Historical Park that provides a narrative history of African slavery as it relates to the Schuyler Estate in Saratoga, New York, embracing social, political, cultural and economic themes related to the significance of the Estate while provided accurate baseline information that will place the extant and historical resources of the Estate within larger historical and geographic contexts;b. Produce an annotated bibliography of primary sources related to the Schuyler Estate, specifically highlighting and identifying known indentured and enslaved workers;c. Engage an appropriate scholar to undertake the work and act as the liaison between the NPS and the scholar;d. Work with the NPS to develop a detailed scope of work, based on Articles I and III of this task agreement, for the scholar to follow in order to complete the Historic Resource Study;e. Provide quarterly progress written reports in which the scholar describes work accomplished, any issues or concerns related to completion of deliverables, and notify the NPS of any deviations from agreed-upon products and timelines;f. Ensure that the manuscript is prepared as a scholarly report meeting the standards of the historical profession and the NPS, as defined by NPS-28, through project management, including coordination of agency and peer review comments and provision of editorial services;g. Produce the final publication quality manuscript, formatted according to NPS graphic identity standards, in pdf format for purposes of internet access, plus twenty-five (25) bound copies to be distributed to key stakeholders, libraries, and research repositories;h. Produce an interim interpretive deliverable, to be defined in collaboration with the NPS and the project scholar that will present contextual narratives to general and diverse audiences as a means of engaging audiences and stakeholders in the research project and in the stewardship of park resources.i. Collaborate with an educational institution local to the park that will provide academic resources and space for the scholar to carry out needed work as well as potential presentations to benefit the public and students;j. Coordinate participation of scholar in a one-day workshop or short webinar with park staff and community stakeholders and the researcher to share the results of the study so that the information can be incorporated, as appropriate, into public programming at the park;k. Make the report available to its membership, as well as the public more broadly, and promote the report within its professional networks so as to make the report as widely available as possible to scholars of American History, so that those scholars and teachers may use the report’s findings in their teaching and writing, to the benefit of not only the scholarly community but students at many levels;l. Promote, to its membership and through its professional networks, any use by NPS of the report in its management and planning, so as to draw attention to its continued efforts to make the presentation and practice of American History within NPS as informed, current, and professional as possible, which is a core mission of the OAH.
