THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service’s intention to award a task agreement under a previously competed or single source justified master cooperative agreement. Master Cooperative Agreement Number P15AC00031 was entered into by and between the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, (NPS), and The Student Conservation Association (SCA) to build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of our environment and communities by engaging young people in hands-on service to the land through service opportunities, outdoor skills, and leadership training. This agreement supports the recruiting and training of interns through Student Conservation Association. While providing an employment opportunity, this position offers the candidate training in public land conservation values, public programming, and environmental education. An ancillary public benefit is to the local students who interact with this young person during their time at the park. The work the intern does on amending and crafting a component of the educational experience will continue to impact thousands of future students. Two interns work with NPS staff and partners for 24 weeks to develop and facilitate resource-based learning experiences for urban youth, families, and teachers and community organizers who work with these audiences. Working with park staff, teachers, parents, and community partners, interns will adapt current post-visit activities and create new alternatives to supplement the park’s Good Neighbors program and will learn about its relationship to the MA curriculum
