Description

Notice of Intent to award a cooperative agreement to the Illinois State Geological Survey under the auspices of the University of Illinois in support of their proposal entitled " Three -dimensional mapping of surficial deposits in Will County and offshore Lake County, IL". The main objective of the project is the completion of the three-dimensional surficial geology mapping project for Will County. Additionally, this project will begin coring sediment in nearshore environments in Lake Michigan in support of programs in development responsible for mapping modern lake (muds and sand) sediments and subjacent glacial sediments (sand and gravel, silty lake sediment, and till). The project will determine best practices for future work by testing various techniques and coring mechanisms.
