Description
Notice of Intent to award a grant to the National Academy of Sciences in support of their Mapping Science Committee. The National Research Council Mapping Science Committee of the National Academy of Sciences serves as a focus of interchange between the Federal government and the broader scientific technical community including state and local governments, academia, and private sector. Research objectives of the project include: scientific and technical issues related to the collection, integration, sharing, mining, and visualization of spatial data; policy and programmatic developments affecting the use of spatial data for research, operations, and other purposes; o pportunities for improving coordination among organizations that collect, disseminate, and/or archive spatial data; h ardware and software systems that support spatial data and services; and h uman resources and education in mapping science.
