Description

The Flat Top Trail is designated as a National Recreation Trail indicating this trail meets the requirements for connecting people to local resources and improving their quality of life. Visitors experience elevation changes of 1600 feet, magnificent views and changing forest ecology. This project will perform major restoration and sustainability repairs on this trail including drainage and erosion repairs along 10,000 linear feet of trail, installing or refreshing 100 waterbars, stabilization of the trail edges using rock or log cribbing, adding tread material, removing hazardous trees, adding and/or renovating steps in steep areas, improving creek crossings, and removal of invasive vegetation. Work will be accomplished by NPS day labor staff, an intern crew from American Conservation Experience (ACE) â¿¿ one crew leader and five team members for eight weeks â¿¿ and/or volunteers (if available).
