Description

The U.S. Embassy in Kyiv announces the 2018-2019 Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program to support projects in academic and educational affairs. Subject to availability of funds, the Embassy will award small grants as described below to Ukrainian and U.S.-based non-governmental, not-for-profit organizations and individuals. Specific thematic priorities and program requirements are described in detail below. The project must be tailored towards Ukrainian audiences, and all project activities supported by the U.S. Embassy grant should take place in Ukraine and incorporate a substantive American component. Eligible Themes Include: -Projects that support Ukraine’s ongoing educational reform process, drawing on some substantive component of the American educational system. -Projects focused on encouraging and institutionalizing academic integrity at Ukrainian educational institutions. -Projects or events hosted at a Ukrainian educational institution that includes U.S. experts on sustainable economic development, elections/democratic reform, transparency, entrepreneurship, leadership and/or innovation. -Educational projects and programming developing the theme of women’s entrepreneurship and leadership in the fields of commerce, finance, and economy.  Projects designed to create or enhance American Studies programming at Ukrainian educational institutions. -Academic programming that utilizes an American component to develop and reinforce values of tolerance, diversity, and inclusive education among secondary school and/or university students. -Projects designed to support displaced Ukrainian universities, their faculty, students and staff, and the communities that they now serve. Participation of American educational experts is strongly encouraged. All the projects should highlight American-Ukrainian academic collaboration or advance Ukrainian educational goals by featuring significant American research, educational approaches, or lecturers. Collaborative, sustained projects and projects that include educational elements and outreach to underserved communities are preferred.
