Fish and Wildlife Service

Description

The purpose of this project is to conduct targeted grassland songbird surveys and locate and monitor nests of grassland songbirds. Grassland birds place their nests on the ground and finding nests is difficult. Experienced staff able to complete the duties described herein and in the Project Summary is necessary to ensure rigorous study design, efficient implementation, and health and safety of the grassland nesting birds, and their eggs, nestlings, and young. This project is critical to the FWSâ¿¿ understanding of vital rates and habitat requirements for several species of grassland birds on the FWSâ¿¿ Birds of Conservation Concern list. The management responsibility for these grassland birds is delegated to the Fish and Wildlife Service by the Secretary of the Interior.
