Description

The National Fish Passage Program (NFPP) is a voluntary program that provides direct technicalassistance and financial assistance in the form of cooperative agreements to partners. The programwork in partnership to provide fish (and other aquatic organisms) passage and restore aquaticconnectivity for the benefit of federal trust resources. Activities which restore fish passage supports themodernization of country¿s infrastructure such as road culverts, bridges and water diversions. Fishfriendly infrastructure provides a means for fish to be self-resilient and maintain or increasepopulation¿s providing for quality of fishing for many species. The NFPP is delivered through more than65 Fisheries and Aquatic Conservation (FAC) Field Offices across all States and territories. FAC staffcoordinates with project partners, stakeholders and other Service programs to identify andcollaboratively implement projects within Regional priority areas. Project work plans are developedstrategically, in coordination with partners, and with substantial involvement from FAC staff. Projectsmust advance our mission, promote biological diversity, and be based upon sound scientific biologicalprinciples. FAC and Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) strategic plans inform the types of projects fundedunder this opportunity. Applicants seeking funding under this program should review the programstrategic plan and also contact the regional NFPP Coordinator that corresponds to the location of theproject for additional regional priorities prior to submitting an application for funding.
