NIDCR Mentored Career Development Award to Promote Diversity in the Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Workforce (K01 Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

The purpose of this NIDCR Mentored Career Development Award is to enhance the diversity of the independently funded dental, oral and craniofacial research workforce by providing a mentored research experience for eligible postdoctoral fellows and early career faculty from diverse backgrounds, including those who from groups underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences. This award provides salary and research support for a sustained period of protected time for intensive research career development under the guidance of an experienced mentor. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is designed specifically for applicants proposing research that does not involve leading an independent clinical trial, a clinical trial feasibility study, or an ancillary study to a clinical trial. Applicants to this FOA are permitted to propose research experience in a clinical trial led by a mentor or co-mentor. Applicants proposing a clinical trial or an ancillary study to an ongoing clinical trial as lead investigator, should apply to one of the companion FOAs. Studies conducted with specific applications toward processes or products in mind should submit to the companion Clinical Trial Required FOA (PAR-18-359). Applicants proposing to lead basic science experimental studies involving humans, referred to in NOT-OD-18-212 as prospective basic science studies involving human participants should submit to the companion FOA (PAR-19-NNN).
