Alliances for Analysis and Communication (AA&C) Activity
ArchivedMexico USAID-Mexico City
Description
USAID’s Alliances for Analysis and Communication (AA&C) Activity seeks to support civil society efforts to collect, analyze, and disseminate data relating to justice sector performance. In addition, it seeks to increase the participation of local actors in the oversight and analysis of justice sector performance that will ultimately hold justice sector institutions accountable to target audiences, such as the private sector, academia, media, and the general public. Justice sector institutions in Mexico have traditionally not been very accessible outside of the legal profession. Civil society has strived to fill information gaps with its own analyses and research, routinely pointing to specific shortcomings and deficiencies in the system. While local organizations have shown expertise in conducting analyses of justice sector performance, the relevance of this information often dissipates quickly from public discourse largely due to a lack of understanding by key sectors of the population. Crucially, they often miss specific audiences and individuals who can make a difference in terms of policy development, outreach and political influence. This limits the effectiveness of civil society organizations in providing oversight of government institutions.
