The objective of this Agreement is for the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway (SACN) and its Friends Group, the St. Croix River Association (SCRA), to collaborate on youth engagement through the SCRA-SACN Internship Program and address aquatic invasive species prevention necessary activities. Recent graduate and crew will complete tasks associated with aquatic invasive species prevention. Program (boat inspections, field monitoring, outreach, etc.). Currently, the park does not have this capacity. Continuation of the program: 2014 was the first year of the River connections program with SCRA and six internships were provided. In 2015, SCRA provided 7 internships and logistical support for two WASO-funded interns at SACN. SCRA has the ability to cost-share through cooperation with other local and regional partners, including community organizations, schools and informal educators, are integral to the successful implementation of the internship program and since 2016 have the backbone of the Riverway's AIS program. Provides for at least 3 paid internship to focus on aquatic invasive species outreach, monitoring and research, invasive plant control as needed, general research management projects (esp. aquatic), that would otherwise not have sufficient field support. The work includes engagement with park visitors, stakeholders and park partners. SCRA will provide recruitment strategies, hiring authorities, logistical support and supervision, NPS will assist in training and provide meaningful projects and oversight.
