This announcement is not a request for applications. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service’s intention to award a task agreement under a previously competed master cooperative agreement P12AC31164. This is a modification to add existing funding to current task agreement P17AC00128. This agreement and the associated tasks contained within the agreement allow the NPS to conduct collaborative research with North Dakota State University, specifically Dr. Erin Gillam. The project entails using acoustic monitoring devices to detect and identify bat species in nine national parks in the Upper Midwest. This data will assist park resource managers and inform management decisions within each of the parks as the White Nose Syndrome (WNS) moves through these parks. This monitoring will allow the parks to track populations and species at specified geographic areas within each of their parks. Data thus far are indicating a steep decline in the numbers of Little Brown Bat, a bat known to be susceptible to the disease.
