A. Project Goals ¿ The intern will gain practical experience in working with the public and managing non-native plant species, reducing fuel loads, mitigating wildfire damage, and restoring native plant species. They will also be exposed to a range of other resource management techniques and to the duties of other Divisions within the park. B. Project Objectives ¿ The objective of this Task Agreement is to support and stimulate work and/or education and training opportunities for young adults through collaborative participation in dealing with park neighbors, park visitors, and other members of the public. They will be mentored in managing flammable vegetation, preventing wildfire damage, and protecting and restoring biological diversity in southern Arizona. Ancillary benefits include protecting fire-sensitive native vegetation from wildfire and protecting public safety and adjacent private property in the Wildland Urban Interface.
