THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service’s intention to award financial assistance for the following project activities. Public History Interns will engage in original research to curate annotated digital collections rich with primary source imagery and text that will inform interpretive and educational programming, social media content, and online exhibitions for the National Parks of Boston. This rich and nuanced trove of resources will be available for teachers, students, partners, park staff, and the public. This internship enables participants to explore new content, learn and strengthen public history and civic engagement skills, build professional networks, and explore career options within the National Park Service and associated cultural organizations. Internship work will consist of conducting research, compiling information, and preparing the digital exhibit. The interns will meet regularly as a group to discuss goals and progress. Each intern will be responsible for a specific area of focus. Research will be geared to the histories of African Americans and women, focusing on marginalized peoples or lesser told stories, in order to provide greater diversity in park programming and greater relevance to visitors and students.
