Funds provided in the agreement will used to promote communication and citizen engagement activities of the PPJV in North Dakota. Linking conservation programs to societal benefits was identified as a high priority in the 2017 Prairie Pothole Joint Venture (PPJV) Implementation Plan and 2013 PPJV Strategic Communications Plan. Private landowners can be powerful advocates for prairie and wetland conservation and engaging these citizens is imperative for the PPJV to accomplish its goals and objectives. Additionally, urban conservation and outreach efforts that help connect people living in and near cities are increasingly important even in states with low densities of people. This project seeks to directly engage K-12 students in prairie and wetland ecology, citizens in habitat and ecosystem services programming, and farm-to-table events highlighting conservation ranching and prairie management farms.
