Description

The purpose of this Agreement is to further coordination and cooperation between the US Department of the Interior National Park Service hereafter NPS and the State of Colorado-CPW and its Director. The objectives include facilitating joint participation, effective communication, coordination, and collaboration between the NPS and CPW, regarding the management of fish and wildlife and their habitats and other natural resources on NPS lands, CPW Lands, and elsewhere in the State of Colorado. Management of wildlife species is enhanced by close cooperation between the agencies as individuals and populations readily move across boundaries and therefore are effectively managed by both agencies. Conservation of threatened, endangered or at-risk species on larger scales also requires cooperation between the agencies to develop collaborative actions that will maintain these species across their full range. Examples of wildlife species for interagency collaboration include but are not limited to: black bear, elk, deer, bighorn sheep, moose, mountain goat, lynx, wolverine, cutthroat trout, boreal toad, pika and ptarmigan.
