Notice of Intent to Award to Salton Sea Authority
ArchivedDepartment of the Interior
Description
Through this grant, access will be gained at the Salton (Sea) by dredging the North Shore Marina so that the existing boat ramp can once again become functional, to conduct monitoring and habitat restoration activities associated with endangered Desert pupfish habitat and monitoring for overall water quality metrics that may affect human health and other sensitive species, such as migratory birds. Dredging will reduce the sedimentation within the North Shore Marina and will alter the angle of the marina access so that future erosion is minimized. This project will include: 1) a Sampling and Analysis Plan approved by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; 2) sediment sampling and report; 3) all environmental compliance documentation and permits; 4) dredging and associated construction; and 5) effluent testing. The project is within the unincorporated North Shore Community.
