Description

The USGS Southwest Biological Science Center (SBSC) is offering a funding opportunity for research investigating the status and continues long-term monitoring of amphibians in Arizona. Spurred by concern over global declines in amphibians, Congress funded a nationwide effort. The program that came from this is the Amphibian Research and Monitoring Initiative (ARMI) which is funded through the US Geological Survey and the funding source for this type of work since 2000. The driving force of this initiative is to determine the distribution and status of amphibians throughout the country and to identify causes of amphibian declines and ways to reverse these declines. The overall goal of ARMI in Arizona is to identify threats to amphibians, long term monitoring of amphibians to address population changes, and to assist land mangers in habitat modification to benefit amphibians.
