Description
The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research to investigate the potential for using metagenomic techniques for identifying desert biocrusts on disturbed lands. The first step in this process is to establish a viable library of known DNA fingerprints that may be extracted from soils. This technique, if successful could offer a reliable and accurate method to assess these cryptic organisms.
