Description
Testing of wakasagi hatching frames for delta smelt spawning The proposed project is to test wakasagi hatching frames for delta smelt hatching in laboratory as a potential method of future release in the Sacramento San Joaquin Delta to supplement the wild population. Specific Objectives of this project are to 1) Assess the hatching success and survival of fertilized delta smelt eggs on wakasagi hatching frames under laboratory culture conditions applied at the FCCL, and 2) Test the performance of the wakasagi hatching frames in seeding delta smelt eggs under different environmental conditions at the FCCL. . Authorizing Legislation: Fish and Wildlife Act; Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act; Fish and Wildlife Improvement Act; and Endangered Species Act.
