Description

Notice of Intent to award a cooperative agreement to the University of Wisconsin System, Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey in support of the project entitled "1:100,000 Mapping of Bayfield and Jefferson Counties". The assistance award is part of the National CooperativeGeologic Mapping Program, Great Lakes Geologic Mapping Coalition (GLGMC)component. The GLGMC is open to the eight state geological surveys with borderson the Great Lakes. The Wisconsin Geological And Natural History Survey willbegin surficial mapping of the four counties bordering Lake Superior innorthwestern Wisconsin at a scale of 1:100,000. This year’s mapping will focus on Bayfield County, and resulting mapswill inform aggregate mining, flood hazards, and three-dimensional distributionof glacial and proglacial sediments in the region.
