Description

The Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL, or the Department), announces the availability of approximately $8,000,000 total costs (subject to the availability of Federal funds) for one cooperative agreement to fund a technical assistance project in Mexico to improve adherence to international labor standards in the agriculture sector. The project will aim to achieve the following outcomes: Outcome 1: Increased capacity of government officials to enforce labor laws specifically related to child labor, forced labor, occupational safety and health and other acceptable conditions of work in the agriculture sector. Outcome 2: Increased compliance with labor laws, including occupational safety and health and other acceptable conditions of work, by private sector stakeholders in the agriculture sector. Outcome 2.1: Increased private sector use of tools and resources available for compliance with labor laws, including occupational safety and health and other acceptable conditions of work, in the agriculture sector. Outcome 3: Increased knowledge about labor rights and options for accessing remediation of labor law violations. The project must use an area-based approach in agricultural areas, including in sugarcane growing areas, in the state of Nayarit and one of the following other states: Jalisco, Michoacán, or Puebla. The duration of the project will be a maximum of four years (48 months) from the effective date of the award.
