Description

Notice of Intent to award a cooperative agreement to the Illinois State Geological Survey, under the University of Illinois, in support of the project entitled "Geologic Mapping of the Nearshore Coastal Zone of Lake Michigan in Lake County, Illinois Phase 2 (Year 2 of 3)". The main objective of this agreement is to continue offshore geologic mapping on the bottom of Lake Michigan. Novel sediment sampling, geophysical imaging, and offshore lake-bottom mapping will continue adjacent to, and along the Lake County coastal area, adjoining a recently completed three-dimensional geologic map (Brown, 2015). This project continues ISGS efforts to map the geology of northeastern Illinois in three dimensions (3D).
