Description

Notice of Intent to award a cooperative agreement to the Earthquake Engineering Research Institue (EERI) in support of the project entitled "Assistance in Undertaking a Community Review of Ridgecrest Earthquake Sequence Investigations". The main objective of the agreement is to support the participation of key stakeholders in the Ridgecrest Earthquake Sequence one-year anniversary programming at the 2020 National Earthquake Conference to be held in San Diego, CA from March 2-6, 2020. Participants will define major lessons and opportunities for further research across a range of disciplines, including topics that are multi- and cross-disciplinary in nature. Transformative and cross-cutting research areas will be identified where appropriate. Recommendations from presentations will be shared widely with the broader research and practicing earthquake risk reduction community through EERI, the NEHRP agencies, and partners. EERI is uniquely qualified to carry out the work described in their proposal because they are the leading non-profit membership organization that connects those dedicated to reducing earthquake risk. EERI is in a prime position to be responsible for this workshop because EERI is probably best known for its field investigations and reports of the effects of destructive earthquakes and because EERI has experience in running large conferences on earthquake risk topics.
