The Award Ceiling for Year 1 is 0 (none). CDC anticipates an Approximate Total Fiscal Year Funding amount of $1,000,000 for Year 1, subject to the availability of funds. This NOFO aims to utilize the unique role of University of Malawi College of Medicine (COM) as the sole medical school and premier Malawian public health institution to support the Ministry of Health (MOH) in the following areas: (1) quantify HRH needs for Malawi using the Workload Indicators of Staffing Need (WISN) methodology or other appropriate methodologies (2) develop a long-term strategic vision for HRH forecasting, deployment, and development; (3) increase the production and quality of COM graduates with competencies to provide advanced integrated HIV care and treatment services to mitigate the chronic shortage of highly skilled health workers; (4) utilize the unique role of COM to domesticate laboratory external quality assurance (EQA) systems by taking on components that are currently sourced outside the country; and (5) support the newly established national pharmacovigilance center housed at COM pharmacy department in collaboration with the Malawi Pharmacy Medicines and Poisons Board.
