Description

U.S. human rights and democracy assistance will contribute to a stable Pakistan by promoting governance based on democratic principles, respect for human rights, and peaceful coexistence. It will also provide for the protection of, and advocacy for, the rights of the most vulnerable, including youth, women, and religious and ethnic minorities, as well as mitigate the impact of conflict on Pakistani communities. Proposed programming must be responsive to immediate needs on the ground; must be in line with the U.S. Government’s democracy, governance, and human rights goals in Pakistan; and should contribute to and support Pakistani efforts to strengthen democracy, good governance, and human rights in the country. Helpful resources for applicants include the annual Pakistan Human Rights Report: (https://www.state.gov/reports/2018-country-reports-on-human-rights-practices/pakistan/) and International Religious Freedom Report (http://www.state.gov/j/drl/rls/irf/religiousfreedom/). Additionally, proposals must note the applicant’s current NGO registration status in Pakistan.
