Description

The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research in measuring the impact of social and civic networks on the capacity of cities in the impact zone of the Hayward Fault to protect the health and well-being of their most vulnerable residents. The research will study recent disruptions caused by Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPSs) and assess communities¿ readiness for a more complex disaster like an earthquake. The cities will include the City of Cloverdale CA that was directly impacted by a recent PSPS, and the Fruitvale neighborhood in Oakland, CA, which would be directly impacted by a Hayward fault rupture.
