Archived

National Institute of Corrections

Description

Accessing and reviewing available and emerging research and information on the subject of vicarious trauma, secondary trauma, compassion fatigue and job-related stress in prisons, jails and related disciplines will provide the background for determining the current understanding of this issue. It will also provide the foundation for interviews/focus groups/surveys/polling and other information gathering activities. Through these activities, it is assumed that successful strategies currently utilized by prisons and jails will emerge and become the foundation for recommendations regarding affective approaches that could be replicated in other agencies.
