Description

The purpose of this agreement is to conduct cooperative and collaborative sociocultural research in Kaktovik, North Slope Borough, Alaska. The research goal is to learn where, when, and how people in Kaktovik hunt beluga whales and the cultural value and importance of beluga harvest for the community. The desired outcome is co-production and sharing of historical, cultural, spatial, and temporal knowledge about subsistence beluga hunting. The purpose of gaining this knowledge is primarily to support environmental impact analyses, but also includes community engagement, Tribal consultation, harvest monitoring, and co-management of the beluga harvest.The Full Announcement and Application Instructions are located under the Related Documents.
