Description
The objectives of the proposed effort include: Objective 1: Determine optimal conditions for growth and culture of S. villarsiae (Ant. Year 1) Objective 2: Determine host-range of S. villarsiae by testing native and introduced plant species in the US (Ant. Years 1-2) Objective 3: Determine impact of S. villarsiae on multiple introduced populations of N. peltata (Year 2) Objective 4: Determine viability of S. villarsiae as a biocontrol agent and outline next steps for regulatory approval and field tests (Ant. Year 2) Objective 5: Identify field demonstration locations and conduct field trials to determine efficacy of S. villarsiae under real-world conditions (Ant. Optional Years 3-5)
