Description

U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) Powell Center, is offering a funding opportunity for research on “A global synthesis of multi-year drought effects on terrestrial ecosystems.” The project will conduct a synthesis of ecosystem impacts across the coordinated, globally distributed International Drought Experiment (IDE) network of > 100 sites that have imposed an extreme multi-year drought on vegetation. Tasks include testing cross-ecosystem sensitivity to extreme drought, addressing ecosystem responses to multi-year drought effects, assessing the relative importance of direct (reduced water availability) and indirect (plant community change) mechanisms, preparing manuscripts and publishing data for publication via the Environmental Data Initiative.
