Description

The Vehicle Technologies Office (VTO) funds a broad portfolio of research, development, demonstration, and deployment projects to develop affordable, efficient and clean transportation options to tackle the climate crisis and accelerate the development and widespread use of a variety of innovative transportation technologies. The Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office (HFTO) is focused on enabling large scale hydrogen production, delivery, storage, and use across applications and sectors, including medium and heavy-duty transportation. The purpose of this announcement is to seek proposals to increase the efficiency of freight transport systems beyond current operations and solutions using one or more vehicles in classes 4 through 8. The objective of the project is to achieve a system-level greenhouse gas reduction of at least 75% by improving the efficiency of the vehicle(s) and the freight system while reducing total cost of operation and improving vehicle performance and reliability.
