The goal of this project is to enhance prison personnel capabilities through cognitive training, promoting a mentality change in the treatment of inmates, encouraging compliance with international human rights guidelines, and supporting a peace culture that nurtures inmates’ rehabilitation and reinsertion into society. Objective 1: Perform an initial assessment of the current prison personnel interaction with inmates and the mechanisms in place to submit human rights complaints within the prison system in El Salvador. A baseline evaluation should be developed as well as a monitoring process and a final evaluation that allows to measure the impact of the project. Objective 2: Create and implement a system to submit human right complaints with confidentiality and transparency that protect inmate’s integrity and freedom of expression. Objective 3: Provide training to executive staff, case management teams and correctional officers from 19 selected locations to benefit at minimum 1200 participants.
